KYIVEXPOPLAZA, the leading exhibition center in Ukraine, has almost reached its saturation limit — this opinion prevails both among exhibition industry professionals and exhibitions visitors. Indeed, none could predict such rapid dynamics of Ukrainian exhibition industry development, when the exhibition center was being projected and constructed. Within 5 years, the number of exhibitions held at KYIVEXPOPLAZA tripled, their gross space grew by 350%, and the number of participants and visitors increased by over 250%. Economic development in Ukraine, investments inflow, expansion of international cooperation, innovative processes — all these continue feeding the exhibition business growth.

Now, the team of KYIVEXPOPLAZA professionals is thinking over the prospects of exhibition center expansion, to make it not only meet the requests of dynamic economy of Ukraine and fully satisfy the growing demand for exhibition area, but also become the “window on the world” for national business, Ukraine’s visiting card, like the biggest exhibition centers of the world. KYIVEXPOPLAZA team is working on the prospects of further development of the exhibition center. Economic modeling shows that Ukraine’s capital city will generally need an exhibition center of total area up to 200 ths sq.m (todsay, KYIVEXPOPAZA features almost 34 ths sq.m of total area, 28 ths sq.m of it being exhibition area).

It should be admitted that the development potential on the existing area in Saliutna Str., where the exhibition center is located now, is practically exhausted. Therefore, active work is being done on elaboration of other variants of exhibition center location, taking into account its several times larger scale and constantly increasing number of visitors (over 600 ths in 2007). Thus, the new location area is searched for, the main and mandatory requirements to which would be proximity to metro stations and availability of high-capacity transportation mains, as well as highly developed pipelines and networks, which are necessary for such a serious architectural formation as an exhibition center.

Naturally, such prospects should be studied carefully, keeping in mind the exceptional social and economic significance of the biggest exhibition center of Ukraine and conducting consultations with city authorities, architectural community, business circles and the public. This will require a considerable period of time and specialists’ efforts. Now this work is only started, thus speaking of exact terms and results is untimely. The work is aiming at long-term prospects; meanwhile, KYIVEXPOPLAZA exhibition center enriches its positive experience in hosting international and national exhibition, as well as congresses, conferences, corporate events, etc. In 2008, over 120 exhibitions are planned to be held, and this number is expected to grow the next year (at present, the calendar of events for 2009-2010 is in the final stage of elaboration).
